Blobify
This series explores the physical tension between unyielding architectural masses and vibrant, organic clusters. The compositions pair the cold, abrasive weight of speckled concrete with the glossy, pressurized elasticity of balloon-like forms, creating a vivid dialogue between the permanent and the ephemeral.
Approach
Emergent Forms: The primary intrigue lies in the “blobs” appearing to grow directly out of the hard concrete, creating a visual paradox where stone seems to exhale soft matter.
- Conceptual Inversion
- This study explores the “hard-to-soft” transition, challenging the viewer’s spatial logic by treating a rigid structural object as a source for elastic, pressurized volumes.
- Material Opacity
- By blending the opacity across two materials with wildly different physical properties, the transition zones suggest a molecular shift rather than a simple intersection.
Contrast
The work utilizes high-contrast material shaders, focusing on the interplay between diffuse, rough textures and specular-heavy balloon surfaces (SSS).
By juxtaposing hard-surface geometries with soft-body simulations, the renders highlight the structural and conceptual differences between.
Technical
A matte for future compositing considerations
Notices that the opacities are not respecting by the lighting render, revealing the trick of interecting geometry. But with clever material adjustments, it looks prefect.
